All drivers are required to read and acknowledge the rental agreement

There are some restrictions and requirements. Can you answer yes to all of these?

  • Must be at least 21 Years of age to rent or drive.

  • Have a valid U.S. driver’s license

  • Proof of current, full coverage automobile insurance

  • Major U.S. credit card for payment.

  • You will read the rules and follow them to avoid a ticket or traffic violation

This won’t take long — but it is important. It’s for your safety and to help you avoid getting a ticket.

Other Important Information - don't damage the cart

  • Please do not place and/or strap down any personal items (e.g., surfboards and chairs) on the cart roof.

  • The rear seat of the cart folds down for your convenience. Any damage to the roof will result in additional charges.

  • DO NOT OPERATE the Cart on the beach or over large puddles of standing water. Doing so will result in the loss of the use of the cart and your security deposit at a minimum, with no exceptions!

  • The cart can only hold six (6) passengers.

This is how to avoid a ticket by Oak Island Police

  • Golf Carts/Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) are for road use only. If the speed limit is over 35mph, driving the LSV on that road is illegal

  • Our carts are not permitted on sidewalks or beaches.

  • Children are not allowed to sit unattended in the rear seats of the 6-person carts. They must be in a proper-sized child booster seat or infant carrier with a seatbelt.

  • The renter is responsible for any parking citations and/or fees acquired during their rental. Upon receipt of any violations, a saved credit will be charged.

  • Vehicles shall not be operated in a manner that may endanger passengers or other individuals (e.g., pedestrians) or harm property.

  • Everyone must wear a seatbelt.

  • Use blinkers when turning.

  • Rental carts cannot be parked in a fire lane or in the right-of-way

  • Do not drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol

  • Golf carts are not permitted on bridges entering/ exiting Oak Island. (Middleton Rd & Long Beach Rd.)

  • Do not, for any reason, attempt to perform maintenance or repairs on the cart.

  • Do not tow the cart.

  • If the problem is substantiated and there is a loss of use during the agreed-upon rental time, you will be refunded appropriately

  • If you fail to notify us of the problem at the time of the problem, you will not be refunded for that period, as we were not informed of the problem.

  • If we are requested to make a service call and it is determined that the problem results from improper cart operation or failure to connect the charging system properly, you will be responsible for the cost of the repair. Golf cart towing fee is a minimum of $375

The Cart is not gas powered nor foot-powered. Plug it back in.

  • We supply all renters with an extension cord for charging. All carts must be charged while not in use, especially overnight, to ensure full power for your next outing.

  • All carts must be fully charged upon check-out.

  • A $75 fine may apply if a cart has less than 50% battery life. If there is an issue with charging the cart, please call us.

  • Our electric carts have a 25-30 mile range on a full charge. It takes approximately 8 hours to charge a fully empty cart..

Your vehicle insurance coverage.

  • Providing Local Style Rentals with your insurance information DOES NOT guarantee insurance coverage.

  • It is the Renter’s sole responsibility to ensure liability coverage and property damage with the renter’s auto insurance company before signing the rental agreement.

  • The renter is responsible for ALL liability and damages that may result while operating a Local Style Rentals street-legal golf cart, also known as a Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV).

Do you want the deposit back?

  • The owners have confirmed no parking violations.

  • The cart was rinsed and cleared of trash. Cover the front charging ports before rinsing the cart.

  • The cart is fully charged and plugged in

  • The owners confirmed no damage, and the cart is in working order.

  • The key must be returned to the lock box on your last rental day. A lost or damaged key is $75.

How to avoid a parking ticket.

  • Our golf cart comes with a pre-paid parking pass.

  • Fines will be issued even with a residential parking pass if you do not follow the parking rules.

  • Any fines issued are your responsibility to pay before your check-out date. Deposits will be returned once we confirm no fines were issued during your stay.

  • At spaces marked by BUMPERS: Vehicles must be parked straight, forward facing & centered at either a YELLOW or BLUE (handicapped) parking bumper (sometimes referred to as a “curb,” “stub,” or “stop block”).

    • Parking is not permitted in unmarked or right-of-way (streetside) areas.

    • All unmarked areas in the Paid Parking Zone are assumed to be a “no parking” area; the absence of “No Parking” signage does not indicate parking is allowed.

    • NO BUMPER = NO PARKING

CITATION FINES, PAYMENT, & DISPUTE

Parking tickets are civil citations issued as a physical note affixed to the windshield. No direct vehicle owner notification has been provided. If applied to a rental vehicle, it is up to the vehicle owner and driver to establish and agree upon personal notification responsibility if a ticket is issued.

PARKING FINES

$25 if paid on the same day by Midnight (NOTE: this discount only applies to violations within a valid parking zone but without a valid parking permit. All other citations are ticketed at the full $50 rate.)

$50 if paid within the following 30 days

$75 if paid after 30 days (after 45 days, unpaid citations will be referred to a collection agency)

$250 fine for Special Violationsthese include parking within 15 feet of / or blocking a Fire Hydrant, Fire Lane, or Emergency Access (Section 28-42.8.6), and parking in a designated handicap space without proper license plate or hangtag (Section 28-42.8.7)
